Kyra Alexandria was born in Harlem, New York, but her story begins with a different intention.
Raised by parents who planned to return to their ancestral home, she spent her early childhood in Belize City, where community, culture, and performance were part of daily life. At Grace Primary School, she immersed herself in dance, church choir, and school productions, later performing at the Baron Bliss Center under the guidance of Caribbean dance educator Rosita Baltazar, developing an early understanding of performance as both discipline and connection.
After relocating to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, her foundation expanded. In Northern Virginia, she trained in classical violin, earning eight Solo and Ensemble accolades and performing in the District 11 Orchestra of Fairfax County Public Schools. Alongside her formal training, she explored rhythm and movement through capoeira, studying Afro-Brazilian musical traditions and instrumentation, while continuing to write, produce, and experiment independently.
By thirteen, she was writing songs.
In 2022, she released her debut single “Shady,” a sultry R&B-pop ballad examining ego and emotional ambiguity in modern relationships. What began as an introduction to releasing music independently—performing at open mics and networking events—quickly became a turning point. The experience revealed a deeper understanding of artistry beyond creation alone.
She stepped back.
Over the following years, Kyra entered a period of intentional refinement—developing her voice across disciplines including vocal performance, songwriting, production, and ballet, while cultivating meaningful relationships within the music community. A pause mistaken for absence, was in-fact preparation.
Now based in Washington, D.C., Kyra Alexandria is a Belizean-American songwriter, producer, and vocalist creating genre-fluid pop rooted in intention. Drawing from a wide sonic landscape—90s Euro techno, 2000s R&B and soul, UK punk, and global musical traditions—her work balances rhythm, atmosphere, and emotional precision.
Her artistry extends beyond sound. Through choreography, styling, and performance, she constructs a visual world that is sleek, controlled, and quietly subversive, where every element serves a larger narrative.
Her forthcoming 2026 debut project (‘How I Am’) marks the next phase of that vision: a multi-track body of work exploring transcendence through self-discovery, the discipline of staying true to oneself, and the choice to live honestly amid shifting social norms. Told from the perspective of a young woman navigating the early 21st century, the project reflects both personal evolution and cultural awareness. Grounded, intentional, and fully self-defined.
